DirecTV Nomad with Apple Airport Extreme
DirecTV told me it couldn’t be done, they said there was no way to get it to work with an Apple router…when I pressed for the technical reason, their responses were so invalid I knew it could be done.
All you need to do is set your Nomad to be assign a DHCP reservation (based on the MAC address of the Nomad). Pick any IP you want.
Then add port mappings to that DHCP reservation for TCP ports 442, 443, 8082.
Unplug and replug in your Nomad’s power and boom, the shit works.
Hope this helps
Restore Dell .wim
(note to self)
I had a laptop didn’t have the “recover” option after booting into F8 as Dell said it would…ctrl + F11 didn’t do anything. But I do have the recovery (D:) partition in tact.
So to turn reload the .wim image, you need to get to a dos prompt. You can use your Vista install dvd or XP or just something to get the machine into DOS.
Then run this command:
D:\tools\imagex /apply d:\dell\image\factory.wim 1 c:\
Where D: is your recovery partition and D:\tools contains “imagex” and then point that to your .wim
Took my machine about 45 minutes to complete the restore, didn’t seem to be working at first but it eventually finished. After a reboot you should be set.
